Tips and Tools

Following are a number of publications, which  provide handy information and advice for producers.

Lice Fact Sheet

Lice is one of the top 3 endemic conditions affecting sheep in Australia and costs the national sheep industry in excess of $123 million annually. WoolProducers Australia has developed a fact sheet to help producers manage lice.

Alternatives to Diazinon

In May 2007, the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority discontinued the use of chemicals containing diazinon to control lice in sheep using plunge and shower dipping, or jetting. As a result WoolProducers AUstralia and other key stakeholders developed a fact sheet to provide producers with up to date information on lice control options.

Shedding Fibre Sheep

As a result of an increased number of producers running exotic sheep breeds, the risk of white wool contamination from pigmented and highly medullated fibre to Australian wool clip has also increased. WoolProducers Australia has prepared a guide to help producers mitigate the risk of contamination from shedding fibre sheep.
